Everything starts with the quality of the material. Lattice grows its own Silicon and Germanium crystals in-house. With over 30 years combined growth experience, we can create the optical and physical properties you require every time.

Coring and Grinding

Lattice uses a variety of high precision grinding machines to hold tight tolerances on round and rectangular parts. From here, most parts go to the slicing area.

High precision saws are used to create the heart of our product line, the as-cut blank. State of the art metrology methods ensure close adherence to thickness tolerances.

Curve Generation

For infrared optics, spherical curve generation is the first step to the finished lens. Lattice has both CNC and traditional curve generating machines in order to handle both high precision and high volume production.

Lattice has world-class capabilities in machining Silicon, which is a brittle and therefore difficult material to handle. We have made thousands of complex parts to exacting specifications.

Flat Polishing

Lattice maintains a clean room for flat polishing of Silicon and Germanium. 80/50 scratch/dig and 10 angstrom surface finish are typical. With our high capacity polishers, we can handle large
volumes as well.
